Valley Ravens Match Report

**DUNVANT UNDER 13s TRIUMPH OVER VALLEY RAVENS IN EPIC FRIENDLY!**

BROADACRE - The Under 13s of Dunvant RFC showed tremendous tenacity as they emerged victorious over the Valley Ravens, 40-15, on a day where biblical weather conditions nearly stole the limelight.

Despite being soaked to the bone in a warm-up session that saw conditions reminiscent of a monsoon, both teams battled it out in this unique friendly at Broadacre. The coaches have been proactive in bringing teams from the east to play at Broadacre, believing this to be an excellent opportunity for their young players to challenge teams they wouldn't normally face. This match proved no different.

In the first half, the home side, undeterred by the relentless rain, played a dominant game, keeping the Ravens pinned in their 22 for the initial 15 minutes. By halftime, Dunvant had secured a commanding lead of 19-0. Harrison, donning the number 10 jersey, orchestrated the field with finesse, exploiting the Ravens’ narrow defence, allowing the home team to capitalise on their chances out wide.

Valley Ravens, although trailing significantly, showcased resilience, especially at the ruck. Their agility and speed at the breakdown saw them turning over Dunvant's ball frequently, hinting at a potential comeback. But as the heavens eased their downpour in the second half, it was clear that Dunvant's lead was insurmountable.

The man of the moment was undoubtedly Van Carlsen. This budding rugby sensation not only carried the ball exceptionally well but also showcased his defensive prowess with some crunching tackles, rightfully earning him the "Man of the Match" accolade.

In the aftermath, the Dunvant coaches acknowledged the adverse conditions, stating, "We couldn’t play a wide, expansive game due to the horrendous weather. But our strategy to play the territory, combined with Harrison’s control at 10, was a winning formula."

This victory certainly builds momentum for Dunvant's Under 13s as they set their sights on their next challenge - an away game against Mumbles Under 13s. However, this won't be just any match; it's an Ospreys Cup Game. A higher stake, but if this game at Broadacre is anything to go by, Dunvant's youngsters are more than ready.
